Roulette isn’t a very complex game, it doesn’t require years, months, days or even hours of learning. All you need to know about Roulette to get started is what bets there are, what you can win and what your chances of winning on that bet are. So to get started on roulette, here is a guide for you to help introduce you into the game of roulette.
Playing Roulette
Roulette is most popular with European or American rules but the two don’t differ aside from the American rules having an extra number on the wheel (a 00). To play roulette all you need is a chip, you place your chip on whichever bet you want. Do you want an almost 50% chance of doubling or do you want to take a chance at winning 35x your bet? The wheel is spun and if the ball lands on your bet, you win.
Roulette Bets
Since your payouts are decided by your bet, the most important thing to know on the basics of roulette is which what you can bet on. The wheel in roulette is numbered 1-36 and with a zero (+ a double zero for American), aside from the zeros that are green – half the numbers are black and half are red.
Numbers: Here you can bet on either 1-18 or 19-36, and you have an almost 50% chance to double up (a payout of 1:1).
Color: If you want to bet on color you bet on either red or black and again you have an almost 50% chance of doubling up (winning 100% of your bet).
Even or Odd: The final bet where you have almost 50% chance of winning is called Even or Odd. Place your bet on whether you think the next number will be even, or odd.
Dozens: The next step in the payout ladder is Dozens where you have 3 choices of where you want to place your bet, 1-12, 13-24 and 25-36. On dozens you have about a 31.5% chance of winning a payout of 200% of your bet.
Column: When you look at a roulette table there are 3 rows of numbers going from top to bottom, each row is known as a column. The column bet has the same chance of winning and the same payout as Dozens, the only difference is the numbers are not in a row.
Six line: Six line provides a higher payout of 500% and a 15.5% chance of winning, to bet on Six line you place your bet on six numbers by placing your chip at the edge between two rows.
Corner: A corner is basically a bet on 4 numbers where you place your chip between 4 numbers to mark your bet. Corner has a 10.5% chance of hitting and pays 800% of your bet.
Split: Probably the second simplest method of betting in roulette but also the second most paying with 5.2% chance to a payout of 1700% of your bet. A split is basically a bet on two numbers next to each other, to bet on split you place your chip between two numbers.
Straight Up: Straight Up is the bet on a single number, it’s the most awarding payout but also the hardest one to hit with a 2.65% chance of winning 3500% of your bet.
